Java Articles
My Java articles are located in a
dedicated section.

- This issue of TechTalk is about using

Unix users -- and now among them, Mac OS X users!

gives tremendous benefits in scalability and ease of management.

and volumes on demand.

Private Networking with Microsoft Windows clients.

Others
- A Quick Introduction to Ruby
- Ruby is Perl done right; object-oriented from the ground
up, it integrates Perl's best features (regexps and such)
in a clean object model. This article is a quick overview
of Ruby's features and syntax for programmers already familiar
with Perl and Java.
- A Comparative Look At Some Ruby Idioms
- Comparing commong Ruby structures with Perl, Java and C++.
- Case Study: A Distributed Document Server
- Targeted at colleges and universities,
this document server shows a very scalable design,
with emphasis on security (RSA authentication and
encryption) and fault-tolerance. Also complies to X.500.
This case study was completed in 1995 for my
Master's in Software Engineering. This document is
available in French only.
Mailing-lists
In addition to the articles and publications listed above, I
contributed over the years to numerous mailing-lists. A search
on my name
in the archives of the mailing-lists listed below
is guaranteed to come up with
multiple hits: help to beginners, tips for difficult operations,
patches and fixes, suggestions for future improvements, etc.
- Various Java mailing-lists
& Web sites
- The language that sucks less. I frequently post messages to
mailing-lists and Web sites dedicated to Java technologies:
- Various FreeBSD mailing-lists
- My operating system of choice. Strongly recommended
for any server-type machine or network device (eg.
gateways, firewalls, etc.): they will run for years without
a hiccup.
- Various Linux mailing-lists
- I use Linux on desktop machines and laptops. It
surpasses FreeBSD when it comes to uncommon
hardware devices, audio and video extensions.
